The British Phantom Aviation Group are delighted to announce the saving of another UK Phantom. XT597 has been purchased by Mr Mark Abbott, a senior member of the BPAG management team.

Mark has naturally appointed the BPAG to manage the aircraft on his behalf and as it is private property- not a BPAG group asset- all the costs of transport and restoration will be met by the owner. The BPAG will be providing the workforce and the facilities for the preservation work on XT597 to be carried out and in return the aircraft will, when ready, be on display as part of the BPAG collection. Details of access for supporters and visitors will be forthcoming.

More information on XT597 and it’s history can be found here http://bpag.co.uk/projects/xt597/ and on our social media-

The BPAG are pleased to announce the commencement of a new preservation project. With the help of a generous donation from the 74 Squadron Association, we have purchased F-4J(UK) ZE360, which was one of only 15 ex-US Navy F-4Js acquired by the UK MOD in the early 1980s.

ZE360 is an ex-74 Squadron aircraft, which avoided scrapping and was retired to RAF Manston in February 1991. It is one of only two remaining complete examples of the F-4J (UK) and when the planned restoration is complete it will be the only complete F-4J (UK) on display in RAF colours anywhere in the world.

A fundraising drive to support the preservation will be launched soon and details of access for supporters and visitors will follow when arrangements are complete. In the meantime engineering updates will be posted on this site and on our social media-

The BPAG are delighted to announce that XV490 will be appearing at the War & Peace Revival festival at Hop Farm, Kent during 23rd – 27th July.

XV490 will be appearing as a guest of the Vietnam War Re-enactment Group and as such will be temporarily displaying the ‘Stars n Bars’ of the USAF, as it will be representing the contribution that the F-4 type made during that conflict. However XV490’s owner, longtime BPAG member Mike Davey, will be on hand with a team of volunteers to conduct cockpit visits and chat about the aircraft’s history and its time in service with the RAF.
